It is anticipated that Storm Eunice will bring strong winds and snow, sleet and rain, resulting in treacherous driving conditions. People are asked to consider postponing their journeys while the warning is in place.
Sligo County Council’s roads and fire crews are on standby to respond to emergency situations through Thursday night and Friday morning. All main roads will be treated, and motorists are asked to be especially vigilant on untreated secondary roads.
With a yellow wind warning also forecast and a risk of coastal flooding, motorists and other road users ara asked to avoid exposed and coastal areas.
With potentially damaging gusts, there is a danger of fallen trees and branches on all routes, and pedestrians in urban areas asked to beware of icy footpaths and falling slates.
