Rathcormack Church Folk Group celebrated their silver anniversary on Friday evening 2nd June, 2017.

Their evening began at City Hall where Mayor Marie Casserly welcomed over 40 Members of the group.

The Mayor spoke about the Group being together for 25 years which was set up by the current Fr Michael when he came to Drumcliffe in 1992.  Mary Mc Carthy is the founder member and is still with the Group.  They perform at many charity events across the North West including the Yeats United, Cos Cos Pageant, funerals, weddings, Christmas concerts, the thanksgiving Harvest in Drumcliffe, Ecumenical Services for deceased children at Cregg House and Sligo University Hospital over the past 25 years.

This special group of people whose friendship, singing, laughter and fun was so infectious raised the roof at City Hall with their heartwarming rendition of Abba’s ‘The way old friends do’  and ‘Ireland’s Call.

Goretti, one of the long-term members thanked the Mayor for her hospitality and spoke of the lifetime friendships formed in the group.

The evening concluded with a photocall before they headed off for a Celebration Mass at Drumcliffe Church followed by entertainment at Collins Pub.
