Sligo County Council joined with members of the PPN and Sligo Volunteer Centre to kick off the National Spring Clean campaign 2017. Now in its 19th year, the National Spring Clean campaign is Ireland’s largest anti-litter initiative and each year throughout April, over half a million people take part in over 5,000 clean-ups across the country.
A spokesperson for Sligo County Council said
"The people of Sligo love where they live and this is evident in the high numbers of community groups, schools, sports and youth clubs from around the county that take part in this campaign each year. This year, we are urging anyone who has never taken part in National Spring Clean before to register and get involved. We would love to see a surge in the numbers of volunteers taking part in this worthwhile campaign."
All volunteers registering for the National Spring Clean campaign are issued with a FREE clean up kit by An Taisce. Sligo County Council provides free bags and gloves. Litter pickers can be purchased for €3 each. Those who wish to take part should register on www.nationalspringclean.org or call 01 4002219.
