On Friday night last the Leas Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Councillor Keith Henry opened the Michael Coleman Traditional Music Festival in Gurteen. The Killavil native who is also a former music student of the centre and grandnephew of renowned fiddle player Fred Finn, paid tribute to the long standing commitment of the festivals organisers, Ceolaras staff and the musicians of the area to honouring the famous fiddle player.

‘The hundreds of musicians that have learned, improved and gone on to master their talents as a result of this centre is testament to the work carried out by the teachers, staff and indeed the people who had the vision to build this fine facility” Cllr Henry said.
