‘This is another major accolade for an outstanding athlete. The goodwill and support for Mona was very much in evidence when the Council hosted a Civic Reception in her honour recently. This latest Award shows that the regard in which she is held in her native county is shared by people all over the country. Mona is a wonderful sporting Ambassador for Sligo and we will continue to follow her career with great interest.’
