Update - 8th December - 12.30 pm
Conditions remain hazardous and a number of roads remain closed or partially blocked. Motorists and other road users are asked to exercise care on all routes over the coming days as trees damaged by storm Barra could be vulnerable. People are also asked to stay away from coastal areas. Pedestrians in urban areas are asked to beware of falling slates

Crews currently dealing with fallen trees in a number of areas:
- Tourlestrane to Aclare road at Coolrevil

- Dromore West side of Easkey village
- L52113 near Sooey
- Ransboro and Knocknarea
- Crozon Park, Sligo
- Storm damage to traffic lights at N15/Rosses Point junction Sligo

- Kilmactranny to Boyle county boundary
Water supply to areas served from Carrigans reservoir interrupted due to power outage

While the Orange weather warning is due to expire at 8 am, conditions remain hazardous and a number of roads remain closed or partially blocked. Motorists and other road users are asked to exercise care on all routes.
Crews are dealing with fallen trees in a number of areas, including

- Gurteen to Ballymote Road
- ‘Side road’ at Bertie’s Pitch and putt off N15
- N17 at Ballinacarrow
- Riverstown to Drumfin Road
- Quarryfield to Bell’s Cross Bunninnadden
- Drumbeg West (L5902 to L1902)
- L2801 Coolaney Road from N17
The R287 "Long stretch" Sligo to Dromahair road is flooded. Signage is in place.
With gale to storm force winds continuing, People are strongly advised to stay away from coastal areas. Due to a combination of high waves, storm surge and high tide, coastal flooding will also occur.
Residents of Ballincar, Springfield and surrounding areas requested to avoid using the Mardyke during High Tide 8am – 9am this morning, please use alternative routes such as Scotsman’s Walk.

With a RED weather warning in force for Sligo’s coastal areas, and an ORANGE weather warning in place for all inland areas of county Sligo, motorists are asked to undertake road journeys only if absolutely necessary and to avoid coastal areas.

Second Sea Road - Closure
Due to predicted high tides together with storm surge associated with Storm Barra, the L-75011 Second Sea Road will be closed from 19:00hrs this evening (7th December) to 10:00hrs tomorrow morning (8th December) between the entrance to Aylesbury Park and its junction with the First Sea Road.
The public are advised to stay clear of this area during these times.
Strandhill promenade Closure
Vehicular access to the promenade at Strandhill will continue to be restricted at the main car park until late tomorrow morning as a precautionary measure due to high tides and expected storm surge from Storm Barra.
The public are asked to avoid this area during this time.

Sligo County Council Roads crews responded to fallen trees and other hazards in the following areas Tuesday morning:
- N15 south of Grange
- Drum road at Manorhamilton junction
- Harbour road Moneygold, Grange
- Rosses Point
- Carncash road Rathcormack
- Highwood Road, Geevagh
- Culleenamore, Strandhill
- Collooney-Coolaney Road
Severe or damaging gusts are predicted with winds of 100 to 130 km/h, with localised stronger winds likely. Due to a combination of high waves, storm surge and high tide, coastal flooding is expected. Falls of sleet and hill snow are also likely. Pedestrians in urban areas are asked to beware of fallen slates, and all outdoor street furniture should be removed.
Vehicular access to the Promenade Strandhill is restricted due to high tide and expected storm surge, the public are asked to avoid the area at this time.
When the extreme weather passes, road users will still have to contend with potentially hazardous road conditions such as flooded roads and downed pylons, lines, trees, branches, and other debris which could block roads. Please obey any road closures or diversions put in place by Local Authorities and An Garda Síochána.
