Minutes of Strategic Policy Committee 3 – Transportation and Infrastructure Policy Meeting held on 18th April, 2007

1. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

1.1 Minutes of Meeting held on 6th December, 2006 having been circulated were taken as read and confirmed on the proposal of Councillor Gormley, seconded by Councillor Lundy.

2. MATTER ARISING

2.1 It was agreed on the proposal of Councillor Gormley, seconded by Councillor Sherlock that a reminder issue to the Minister on the designation of the Coolaney/Collooney Road.

2.2 At the request of Councillor Lundy it was agreed that funding for roads not qualifying for LIS funding be placed as an item for the next meeting.

2.3 Agreed on the request of Gerry Queenan to put the N59 as item on the next Agenda.

2.4 Councillor McGrath asked that Traffic Management Plan for Ballymote and other Towns/Villages be placed on the next Area Meeting Agenda and also that the Gardai be invited for this debate.

3. WATER CONNECTION CHARGES 2007

3.1 Report presentation by K. Larkin, Senior Engineer (report of 1st February Anthony Skeffington, S.E.E.). Concern expressed by members on the increased costs (i.e.) Tapping charges for single houses/agricultural connections and asked that the Manager consider such representations in making his decision.

4. POLICY ON HEDGE CUTTING

4.1 Draft policy document circulated from J. O’Dwyer, S.E.O. dated 18th April for consideration. Consider use of local radio to highlight issue. Document noted for approval on the proposal of Mr. G. Queenan seconded by Councillor Gormley and agreed.

5. STUDY TOUR

5.1 Proposals for visit to Aelesund in Western Norway week commencing 25th June advised – from June 26th. Agreed to participate.

6. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

6.1 Advised meeting on nomination of Michael Rochford, Lough Talt as Sligo County Community Forum representative on this SPC to replace Ms. Rita Ann Burke (resigned),
