DEFERRED MOTIONS

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
“Can Sligo County Council address the “dire” traffic situation in relation to speed and congestion on the Doorly Park Road.  The area concerned is from the old Gate Lodge stretching up to the top of the road to where there is a right hand turn that goes up to Lidl and the road widens considerably”.

MOTIONS

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
“That Sligo County Council Roads Department address the following issues of the dangerous junction on the Moneylahan road in Ballintrillick:

There is a mirror in-situ but the ditch on the left hand side of the road which exits onto the main Ballintrillick road causes a huge visibility problem as it is a bad blind spot and oncoming traffic cannot be seen.

Also, the road needs to be resurfaced in areas and potholes are a frequent problem.

Another big issue is the speed at which vehicles are travelling and as it is such a narrow road and drivers are frequently in the ditch to avoid the oncoming large vehicles and haulage trucks.”

  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
“That Sligo County Council roads department explore the possibility of installing ramps on the Mullaghmore road leading from the Castle Gatehouse to Mullaghmore village.

Traffic is speeding in and out of the village at double the speed limit at all hours of the day from very early morning to late evening in all seasons. Very concerned local residents are requesting that ramps are installed before the summer season starts and before there is a serious accident or a life lost.

Along this stretch of road within a short distance of 300 metres there is a drive - in entrance to the beach, a pedestrian entrance and 5 step entrances on the right side of the road. On the opposite side of the road there are 2 entrances to 2 separate caravan parks, 3 residential roads and 3 roadside houses.

This is a very busy, dangerous section of road especially during the busy tourist season.”

  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
That the cycle paths around Sligo town and on the Rosses Point and Strandhill Roads be cleaned and hedges and overhanging branches be cut back for walkers, runners, utility and club cyclists.”

  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor H. Keaney:
To ask for a report on introducing traffic calming measures on the approach road into Mullaghmore village”

  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor H. Keaney:
To ask the Council to select a number of road side sites on the approach roads into Sligo City so that signs can be erected which will advertise upcoming events in Sligo City and County”

  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
“To ask the Chief Executive if Irish Public Bodies Insurance Company has been advised of the dangerous condition of many of the paths in Sligo Municipal cemetery; and to ask will the insurance company indemnify the Council in the event of mourners or visitors to the cemetery being injured and to ask the Chief Executive what plans there are to make the pathways in the cemetery safe.”

  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
“That the Municipal District committee be provided with a report in respect of Dorrins Strand housing estate; and if the costs of taking the estate in charge have been determined and if the claim on the bond is proceeding.”

  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
“To ask the Chief Executive if there are plans to carry out maintenance or improvement works on the outdoor swimming pool at Deadman’s Point, Rosses Point.”

“To call on Sligo County Council to address the on-going problem with rainwater coming onto the Coolaney road from the Collooney railway station road.”

  10. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
“To ask Sligo County Council to inspect and carryout the necessary work on the right of way from No 5 to number 9 in Carton estate as the residents have concerns with its condition“

  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
“To call on Sligo County council to erect a safety barrier on the footpath entrance into Dun Na Ri, estate in Ballintogher as this runs alongside the main road and residents have concerns for the children who use this entrance.”

  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G. O’Boyle:
“Can the Council write to the ESB and see what can be done about a pole that is blocking the view of traffic as you drive out of the one way system at St John’s Terrace as it is only a matter of time until there is an accident there.”
