    “To call on Minister Burton to retain the Community Welfare System Service in West Sligo.”
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Barrett
    “Whilst acknowledging the funding provided by the Department towards maintenance work at Poll na Duibhe Pier, I call on the Minister for the Marine to provide funding for the provision of a winch at this pier. This certainly would complete works for some time at this pier.”
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor V. Cawley
    “In view of the shocking number of people who have died by suicide in Ireland in 2011, where 524 have officially died by suicide, that Sligo County Council question why an All Ireland body has not been set up to tackle this and demands that the Government investigate the setting up of such a body as a matter of urgency.”
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor V. Cawley
    “That Sligo County Council, deeply concerned at the threat to ACCESS to higher education and qualifications at Honours Degree, Masters Degree and PhD level because of the downgrading of Institutes of Technology (those that will not become Technological Universities) and the increasing cost of fees due to the move away from the idea that higher education is a PUBLIC GOOD that should be paid for by society as a whole; that Sligo County Council request an update on the impact such a decision would have on the future of education in the North West and in particular future development of Sligo and Environs.”
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Fleming
    “Following the launch of the National Radon Control Strategy I propose that Sligo County Council again highlight the need for householders to carry out radon measurements and to propose that the Minister for the Environment develop and incentive scheme to encourage the carrying out of remedial works where necessary.”
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley
    “Following on from my motion of September 2013 calling on the Minister for Small Business John Perry and Deputy Tony McLoughlin to ensure that the government offices in Tubbercurry are retained as was promised by Minister Perry before the last general election I ask have this council received any response in this regard.”

    “To ask the County registrar, Mr. Kevin Doherty to re-open the Killsraght Polling Station for the forthcoming Local & European Elections.”

    “That Sligo County Council calls on the Government and the Minister for Communications to ensure that the rural Post Office network and its employees are not downgraded in any way, and that all Post Offices will be kept open into the future.”

    “To propose traffic calming measures at Cloonloo Church. Funding for realignment work to be continued on the R294 between Mullaghroe and Gurteen.”

    “I, Councillor Thomas Collery would like to ask Sligo County Council to seek funding for the repair of foot paths at Church View, Collooney and also for the repair of a foot path at Main Street in Collooney.”

    “I, Councillor Thomas Collery would like to ask Sligo County Council to provide a report on Kingsfort Manor housing estate in Ballintogher.”

    “Noting that Community Welfare Officers in many parts of the country will consider providing finance for deposits for private rented accommodation (under the Supplementary Welfare Allowance Scheme) to persons who are in receipt of a social welfare payment; and further noting that the Community Welfare service in Sligo does not provide such assistance; this Council requests the Minister for Social Protection to take the necessary steps to ensure that in future applicants for such assistance in Sligo will be treated the same as applicants in other parts of the state.”
  16. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “In the interest of openness and transparency Sligo County Council calls on the government in advance of the local and European elections, to indicate the cost of the Water Charges it intends to impose on households from the 1st of October 2014.”

    “That the Council be provided with a report on the status of the waste water sewage treatment plant in Strandhill, and if consideration has been given to relocating the plant given the increasing level of coastal erosion affecting the shoreline.”

    “Public Road No.511.c in Leitrim South, Chaffpool, Tubbercurry has been closed to traffic for the past 4 weeks due to severe flooding. I will ask this Council what funding can be put in place to get this road opened again to traffic on grounds of health and safety.”
  19. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor A. McLoughlin
    “I call on Sligo County Council to consider the recent High Court judgment in relation to the Ocean Links Development, Strandhill and consider whether this local authority could avail of the ‘Special Resolution Fund' as set out by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government to deal with the many issues around these houses and the residents badly effected as set out in the High Court judgment.”
  20. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley
    “That this council takes action to have dangerous trees which are a cause of concern to families who have loved ones buried in Mountirwin cemetery cut down. The trees in question are to the right and left of the entrance gate.”

    “That Sligo County Council be provided with a report as to whether or not the First Active Building at the O’Connell Street/ Grattan Street Corner is fire compliant. Also, to ask the Chief Fire Officer when the last fire cert was issued for these premises.”

    “That Sligo County Council contacts the Department of Health and the HSE requesting clarification regarding the future provision of maternity services at Sligo Regional Hospital.

    We are particularly concerned at recent remarks made in the Dail by Minister James Reilly who stated; Maternity services in all parts of the country will be subject to review and evaluation this year as part of the development by my Department of a new national maternity strategy.’”

    “To ask Sligo County Council to improve the width along the road down to Aughris Pier Skreen.”

    “In light of the recent judgment of the Employment Appeals Tribunal where it was ruled that a Sligo man was unfairly dismissed and an award was given, could I put forward the motion asking the Minister for Justice and Equality, Alan Shatter to review and change the current policy so that the person who takes and wins a case against an employer should not be responsible for their own legal costs.”
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor H. Keaney
    “I ask the council to do a costing on providing a footpath from the National School to the church in Rosses Point Village and to seek funding for this project.”
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Fleming
    “To propose that this Council supports a request to the Minister for Social Protection to review benefits and protection of self-employed people resulting from payment of PRSI contributions.”

    “To request the Director of Services to allocate additional staff to the processing of applications for Housing Grants for Older People and People with Disability and Mobility Aids.”

    “To propose that funds from Public Area Enhancement Scheme be allocated to fund enhancement of public areas attached to housing estates in the County.”

    “Following on from my motion of February calling on the Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar to re-instate to this Council the huge shortfall of €1,712,365 in the Restoration and Maintenance Grant for Local Roads for 2014 as compared to the funding provided in 2013.

    Also, in relation to my motion of January calling on the same Minister to make a special allocation to this Council for Class 3 County Roads which have not received any funding for a number of years. I ask, has the Council received any response to these motions from the Minister.”
  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “Noting that the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government will be making a determination this month (April) on the application from the Council for a license under the Foreshore Act to undertake dredging works at Sligo Harbour; this Council resolves that in the event of the license being granted by the Department that the County Manager submit the Council’s application for a Dumping at Sea Licence to the Environmental Protection Agency without delay.”
  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “That a report containing a list of the sites suggested as an alternative burial ground to Ahamlish be circulated to councillors, the report to include details of why the sites were considered unsuitable.”

    “That an application be submitted for grant aid under the 2014 Marine Leisure and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme to allow the Council to implement on a phased basis if necessary, the required improvements, enhancement works, repairs and refurbishment at Rosses Point harbour and pier.”

    “That Sligo County Council officials prepare a report on the junction of the 1st Sea Road and Strandhill Road (junction to Kevinsfort heath) stating the options of making this junction safer for traffic and pedestrians. There has been a number of serious collisions at this junction over the past 18 months and local residents are very concerned about safety for all road users at this busy location.”

    “That Sligo County Council agrees to take the necessary steps to provide a uniform speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour on the Old Dublin Road (L-3608-0) between Molly Fultons and the outskirts of Ballisodare.”

    “I will ask the Council for a report on the number of septic tanks that have been inspected to date. The number that have failed the test and what grants will be paid to householders to have these septic tanks upgraded.”

    “To ask the Director of Services what progress if any has been made on an earlier motion adopted by this Council that it start the necessary procedure to take in charge a road at Upper Rosses Point, Co. Sligo. This road, which serves nine households, is the first road on the right as you travel from the Primary School towards the R.C. Church.”

    “That Sligo County Council calls on the Minister for the Environment to amend the wording of the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2014-S19 so that Self Build/ Direct Labour can continue as before.”

    “That Sligo County Council reform the Commercial Rates, making it more equitable for all business owners.”

    “To ask the Council to contact Coillte Teoranta with regard to their policy on planting forests in areas that have a high visual amenity.”

    “That this Council calls on the N.R.A. to carrying out an inspection on the N59 from junction L6702 Carrigens to junction L2402 Owenbeg, a 2km stretch and from junction L2604 Stokane to junction L6612 Knockbrack, a 2.5km stretch; and to provide a report to this Council, including design plans, costs, and timescale of when works are to be carried out.”

    “That this Council expresses it concern with the lack of action and support given to organisations and families living and dealing with suicide, which is now the cause of the loss of more than ten lives a week in Ireland, by this Government.”

    “I will ask that a pedestrian crossing be installed on the R294, Ballymote Road, Tubbercurry between the RC church and the Sophia Housing Association/ convent, in the interest of safety for people who have to cross this very busy road.”

    “To call on the Director of Services for Community and Enterprise to ensure that the programmes already delivered by Sligo Leader Partnership Company that are proposed to come under the control of the LCDC, when it is formed, be devolved from the LCDC to Sligo Leader Partnership to deliver in the future.”

    “I propose that this Council supports a call on the Minister for Health, James Reilly for the introduction of a Disability Card to cover people with spinal injuries.”

    “I propose that the engineering staff carry out a survey of the bend at Browns House, Cloonloo, in the townland of Cashel along the R294, to see what measures can be taken to make it safer for motorists and residents.”

    “That this Council calls on the County Manager to put a stay the takeover of any Group Water Supply Schemes, pending the outcome of investigations being carried out by the Ombudsman and other examinations which members of any schemes have requested authorities in Brussels and the Director of Audits to undertake; and that Irish Water be informed of our decision and to prepare a report on what schemes are been investigated.”

    “To ask the County Manager, have the council put in place a long term financial plan which will give a clear indication as to how the council are going to deal with reducing the accumulated deficit with the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan and his department officials as was stated in letter dated 18th December needed to be agreed if so that we the members of this council are informed of the implications if any it will have on local services.”

    “I am calling on Sligo County Council in the interest of health and safety to provide flashing lights on Regional Road 294 at Holy Family N.S Tubbercurry warning motorists to reduce speed until such time as a proper parking area is in place.”

    “I propose that the following wording be included in the County Development Plan: ‘It is the policy of this Council not to permit the exploration for, or extraction of, oil or gas, by unconventional means such as Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking), cryogenics, or any similar purpose technology, as it would be in direct contravention of this Council’s policies concerning the following; water, waste water, air quality, noise pollution, tourism, agriculture, food production, roads/transport, protection of areas of outstanding natural beauty, NHA’a/SAC’s and the promotion development of sustainable energy sources and major incident hazards’.”
