  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “That the Council be provided with an up to date report on the proposed T2-T12 road linking the junction of Mail Coach Road/Connolly Street with the junction of Burton Street/Pearse Road; the report to include details of the most recent submission made to the Department seeking funding for the project.”
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Queenan
    “To call on Minister Burton to retain the Community Welfare System Service in West Sligo.”
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Barrett
    “Whilst acknowledging the funding provided by the Department towards maintenance work at Poll na Duibhe Pier, I call on the Minister for the Marine to provide funding for the provision of a winch at this pier. This certainly would complete works for some time at this pier.”
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Clarke
    “To call on Sligo County Council to ask the Minister for Health, Dr. James Reilly to provide a report on Sligo General Hospital:
    1. What procedures will be available in the hospital (a) Hip Operations – will they continue to be available (b) Will any Cancer Services return.
    2. What procedures will be discontinued.”

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley
    “That this Council calls on the Minister for Justice Alan Shatter and the Chief Superintendent Michael Clancy to re-examine the situation at Tubbercurry Garda Station with a view to opening it 24 hours and increase Garda numbers as was promised when the boundaries were changed.”
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. MacManus
    “That Sligo County Council will contact both the Minister for Health, James Reilly and the HSE, to request that the provision of a CATH laboratory in Sligo Regional Hospital be given urgent priority in the interest of patient safety.”
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. McGarry
    “That Sligo County Council calls on the Government to allocate half of the extra revenue to be generated by the new Household Broadcasting Charge to Independent Broadcasters. This will increase job creation and support the production of the public service content which they have a legal requirement to include.”
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. McGarry
    “That Sligo County Council calls on the Government to give a commitment that the Post Office network will be maintained and also to formulate a plan to ensure that Post Offices continue to play a central role in the delivery of welfare payments and other Government Services.”
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. McGarry
    “Given the recent developments in the treatment of heart attacks delivered by Cardiac Catherisation Laboratory and asks the Government to provide a “Cath Lab” in the Sligo area as patients need to attend one within an hour of an attack and our nearest Cath Lab is in Galway at least 2 ½ hours away.”
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor V. Cawley
    “In view of the shocking number of people who have died by suicide in Ireland in 2011, where 524 have officially died by suicide, that Sligo County Council question why an All Ireland body has not been set up to tackle this and demands that the Government investigate the setting up of such a body as a matter of urgency.”
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Cawley
    “That Sligo County Council issue a report, by way of an update, to members on the progress of the establishment of a treasury function within the Local Government structure and all County councils. This should include the aspects of reserved/executive functions and the time lines proposed in regard to these proposed treasury functions.”
  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Cawley
    “That Sligo County Council investigate the possibility of using ‘QR’ codes at the most visited tourist attractions in Sligo County and Sligo Borough, to enhance the quality of the tourism product offered and the overall tourist experience, and that a report be issued on these investigations.”
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor V. Cawley
    “That Sligo County Council, deeply concerned at the threat to ACCESS to higher education and qualifications at Honours Degree, Masters Degree and PhD level because of the downgrading of Institutes of Technology (those that will not become Technological Universities) and the increasing cost of fees due to the move away from the idea that higher education is a PUBLIC GOOD that should be paid for by society as a whole; that Sligo County Council request an update on the impact such a decision would have on the future of education in the North West and in particular future development of Sligo and Environs.”

    “That Sligo Co. Council calls for the release from prison of the peace activist Margaretta D’Arcy.”

    “To ask for a report outlining the current situation in relation to the provision of an upgrade to the drainage/sewage schemes at Cumeen and Carraroe.”

    “Following the launch of the National Radon Control Strategy I propose that Sligo County Council again highlight the need for householders to carry out radon measurements and to propose that the Minister for the Environment develop and incentive scheme to encourage the carrying out of remedial works where necessary.”
  13. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley
    “Following on from my motion of September 2013 calling on the Minister for Small Business John Perry and Deputy Tony McLoughlin to ensure that the government offices in Tubbercurry are retained as was promised by Minister Perry before the last general election I ask have this council received any response in this regard.”

    “To ask the County registrar, Mr. Kevin Doherty to re-open the Killsraght Polling Station for the forthcoming Local & European Elections.”

    “That Sligo County Council calls on the Government and the Minister for Communications to ensure that the rural Post Office network and its employees are not downgraded in any way, and that all Post Offices will be kept open into the future.”

    “To propose traffic calming measures at Cloonloo Church. Funding for realignment work to be continued on the R294 between Mullaghroe and Gurteen.”

    “I, Councillor Thomas Collery would like to ask Sligo County Council to come up with a solution to remove surface water on the R284, 50 metres from Carraroe Church going towards Ballygawley.”

    “I, Councillor Thomas Collery would like to ask Sligo County Council to seek funding for the repair of foot paths at Church View, Collooney and also for the repair of a foot path at Main Street, in Collooney.”

    “I, Councillor Thomas Collery would like to ask Sligo County Council to provide a report on Kingsfort Manor housing estate in Ballintogher.”

    “Noting that Community Welfare Officers in many parts of the country will consider providing finance for deposits for private rented accommodation (under the Supplementary Welfare Allowance Scheme) to persons who are in receipt of a social welfare payment; and further noting that the Community Welfare service in Sligo does not provide such assistance; this Council requests the Minister for Social Protection to take the necessary steps to ensure that in future applicants for such assistance in Sligo will be treated the same as applicants in other parts of the state.”
  24. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “In the interest of openness and transparency Sligo County Council calls on the government in advance of the local and European elections, to indicate the cost of the Water Charges it intends to impose on households from the 1st of October 2014.”

    “That the Council be provided with a report on the status of the waste water sewage treatment plant in Strandhill, and if consideration has been given to relocating the plant given the increasing level of coastal erosion affecting the shoreline.”

    “Public Road No.511.c in Leitrim South, Chaffpool, Tubbercurry has been closed to traffic for the past 4 weeks due to severe flooding. I will ask this Council what funding can be put in place to get this road opened again to traffic on grounds of health and safety.”
  27. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor A. McLoughlin
    “I call on Sligo County Council to consider the recent High Court judgment in relation to the Ocean Links Development, Strandhill and consider whether this local authority could avail of the ‘Special Resolution Fund' as set out by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government to deal with the many issues around these houses and the residents badly effected as set out in the High Court judgment.”
  28. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley
    “That this council takes action to have dangerous trees which are a cause of concern to families who have loved ones buried in Mountirwin cemetery cut down. The trees in question are to the right and left of the entrance gate.”

    “That Sligo County Council demand that Minister James Reilly immediately publish the terms of reference for, and the preliminary report prepared by the Health Partnership into maternity services in the West/North West Hospital Group.”
