“Proposal for the development of a retirement village, inclusive of a Primary Care Facility which can be administered by the HSE, convalescent care facility, plus 50-bed nursing facility.  Also incorporates Swimming pool/fitness & leisure centre.  To be located in close proximity to Ballymote town on a 36.5 acre site.  In light of the fact that the critical criteria is that the facility will be located within 20 minutes of a main hospital and also be located beside a serviced national rail line and also within walking distance of shops, churches and local amenities.  Retirement villages add enormously to the locations in which they are located and become an integral part of the community with residents taking an active part in local activities.  The demographical assessment on this project has been carried out, which is based on a 45 minute drive to a central location.  Many precedents have been set on projects such as this in many parts of Ireland.

    These include the following:
    Glendale Estate Tullow, Co. Carlow
    Haven Bay, Kinsale, Co. Cork
    Carrowmore Meadows, Knock, Co. Mayo
