1. Confirmation of Minutes

The Minutes of Meeting held on Wednesday 23rd February 2022 were adopted and

2. Matters Arising

There were no matters arising.

 

3. Sense-ability project aims to offer positive library experiences for people with sensory and

additional needs (Report circulated):

Dr Dorothy Armstrong, Occupational Therapist, virtually delivered a PowerPoint presentation to the Members. The project, which commenced in January 2021, is being conducted across three county library services – Leitrim, Sligo and Roscommon. It was launched via a series of six public webinars relating to neurodiversity which were conducted by experts in their fields.

Dr Armstrong gave a brief outline of the project to date, the funding required to keep the project running and the future plans for the initiative across the three county library services.

The presentation and project was considered a highly innovative, beneficial project and received positive feedback from Cllr O’Grady, Cllr Casserly, Cllr Healy and Cllr Gibbons.

Mr Donal Tinney outlined the difficulties encountered by parents, particularly during Covid and acknowledged the support and positivity which this project brings to families.

Ms Dorothy Clarke thanked all who are involved and invested in the project including staff in Sligo Library and other Local Authorities and acknowledged all the excellent work carried out in the delivery of this initiative to date.

 

4. Update: Sligo 2030 LECP Process:

Ms Dorothy Clarke and Ms Margaret McConnell updated the meeting.

A number of workshops have been held since the last SPC3 meeting, to finalise the list of objectives and actions to be delivered over an 8 year action plan. It is expected that a final draft will be on the Q3 SPC3 agenda (as well as the LCDC and SEF) before going before the full Council for formal adoption.

 

5. Progress report on the Review of the County Development Plan (Report circulated):

Mr Frank Moylan updated the meeting on the circulated report. Due to the number and complexity of supporting studies and assessments required, Mr Moylanexpects a draft CDP to be on public display next year – date yet to be confirmed.

Public Art Commissions Plan 2022-2025+ (Report circulated):
Ms Joeleen Lynch updated the meeting on the circulated report.

The Public Art Commissions Plan 2022-2025 has been developed over the past year through close engagement between the Public Art Steering Group and Public Art Project manager. A shortlist of proposed ‘Artist Selectors’ was formed and a shortlist panel compiled. This is currently pending final sign-off and approval from the public Art Steering Group. The next phase of work will be to compile Artist Briefs, on a rolled-out basis, for all 7 identified Pubic Art Commissions.

 

6. AOB:

Cathaoirleach Cllr Rosaleen O’Grady updated the meeting on the revised dates for Q3 and Q4 meetings i.e. 14th September and 30th November 2022.

Ms Margaret McConnell informed the meeting that the Economic Development team launched their second video today via social media platforms. The first video production focused on ‘living’ in Sligo and the second focuses on ‘investing’. The third video which will focus on ‘visiting’ Sligo is expected to be released in the Autumn.

Ms Dorothy Clarke informed the meeting that a review of the Cultural and Creative Strategy is currently underway. This is a new 5 year strategy. Further information will be provided to the SPC3 later in the year.
