Notice of Proposed upgrade works at Cleveragh Regional Park

Notice is hereby given that Sligo County Council proposes to carry out recreational parkland upgrade works to the public amenity area known as Cleveragh Regional Park at Cleveragh Demense, Sligo.

NOTICE UNDER THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001, PART 8 (ARTICLE 81) (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that Sligo County Council proposes to carry out recreational parkland upgrade works to the public amenity area known as Cleveragh Regional Park at Cleveragh Demense, Sligo.

The proposed development works will consist of the construction of:

  • Playground and playing courts – basketball and multi-use courts
  • Learn-to-cycle facility, pump track and skatepark
  • Pedestrian spaces and pathways
  • Car parking, access road and bicycle parking spaces
  • Sustainable drainage systems
  • Public lighting and floodlighting
  • Fenced dog off-leash areas
  • Hard and soft landscaping
  • Public lighting and floodlighting
  • All ancillary services

Sligo County Council has determined, from a preliminary examination, that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of publication of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment (i.e. requires an EIA).

Plans and full particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection, or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, online at Sligo County Council’s Consultation Portal consult.sligococo.ie, or may be viewed during office hours at City Hall, Quay Street, Sligo during the period from Wednesday 18 June to Wednesday 16 July 2025 (both days inclusive).

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made online by registering on the consult.sligococo.ie portal or in writing and submitted to the undersigned not later than 4pm on Friday 1 August 2025

All submissions (including the names of those making submissions) received in relation to this consultation will be published on the consult.sligococo.ie portal and will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at a meeting of the elected members. Accordingly, they will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain.
