ROAD WORKS SPEED LIMIT ORDER – SECTION 10 OF ROAD TRAFFIC ACT, 2004.

The Director of Infrastructural Services has made an Order dated 9^th March, 2026 pursuant to Section 10 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 having considered representations made by the Commissioner of the Garda Siochána specifying that a Special Speed Limit of 50 kph shall apply to road works being undertaken by the Council at the locations hereunder.  This limit shall remain in force for a period of one year or for the duration of the works at the location specified.

R295 Cloonagh

To reduce the speed from 80kph to 50kph along the Regional Road R-295 at Cloonagh, from its junction with Local Road L-8201-0 to its junction with Local Road L-5802-0.

R284 Sooey

To reduce the speed from 80kph to 50kph along the Regional Road R-284 at Sooey, from its junction with Local Road L-1202-0 to its junction at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

R284 Ardline

To reduce the speed from 80kph to 50kph along the Regional Road R-284 at Ardline, from its junction with Local Road L-51026-0 to the County Boundary.

R294 Cloonloogh

To reduce the speed from 60kph to 50kph along the Regional Road R-294 at Cloonloogh, from its junction with Local Road L-5709-0 to its junction with Local Road L-5707-0.

R296 Ballymote

To reduce the speed from 60kph to 50kph along the Regional Road R-296 at Ballymote, from its junction with Regional Road R-293-46 to its junction with Local Road L-16034-0.

R297 Cabragh/Rathlee

To reduce the speed from 80kph to 50kph on the R297 from a point 300m south of the junction of L6412--0 (87) to a point 100m north of the junction with L-6417-0 (89)

R297 Carrownrush/Carrowpaddeen

To reduce the speed from 80kph to 50kph on the R297 from the junction of L-6402-0 (112) to a point 100m north of its junction with the L6404-0 (113)

R298 Lackancahill/Lackanatlieve, Kinard/Cloondervalley

To reduce the speed from 80kph to 50kph on the R298 from the junction of the R297 to its junction with the L-26018-0 (101.8)

R287 Lahanagh

To reduce the speed from 80kph to 50kph along the Regional Road R-287, from a point 1500m east of junction with Local Road L-36025 and L-3603, Aughmore Near crossroads.

R284 Doonamurray

To reduce the speed from 60kph to 50kph along the Regional Road R-284, 150m from its T junction with regional road-R290- to a point 500m Southeast of the junction.

R284 Doonally

To reduce the speed from 80kph to 50kph along the Regional Road R-284, from its junction with L-12021 to a point 600m Northwest of the junction. 

R296 Quarryfield:

To reduce the speed limit from 80kph to 50kph along the R-296 at Quarryfield from its junction with the R-294 to its junction with L-4303-0. 

R293 Ragwood:

To reduce the speed limit from 80kph to 50kph along the R-293 at Ragwood from its junction with the L-81053-0 Gurteen village and the County boundary Roscommon.
