Sligo County Council Delegation Visit New York

Accepting an invitation from the County Sligo Social and Benevolent Association of New York, Cllr Bree was joined Stateside by Leas Cathaoirleach Cllr Edel McSharry, Chief Executive Martin Lydon and Director of Services, Jim Molloy.
In addition to meeting the Sligo Association executive, the busy itinerary included meetings with IDA, Tourism Ireland and Enterprise Ireland, in order to promote Sligo as a top quality destination to live, invest and visit.
Speaking about the visit An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Declan Bree said
“The annual St Patrick’s Day celebrations provide an ideal opportunity to showcase Sligo’s many attractions to an American audience. The visit to New York served many purposes - for the members of the Sligo Association in New York, this annual engagement represents an important civic link with their home county. Our series of meetings with the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and Tourism Ireland focused on our county’s ongoing campaign to promote Sligo as a premium destination for investors, tourists and those wishing to relocate to the Northwest of Ireland”.
Participating in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on 5th Avenue was a real honour for everyone involved and another opportunity to connect with the diaspora.
