Temporary Bathing Water Advisory Notice – Enniscrone Pier

Temporary Bathing Water Advisory Notice – Enniscrone Pier

Following notification of an Urban Waste Water incident at the Uisce Éireann pumping station on the Cliff Road, Enniscrone, which had the potential to adversely affect bathing water quality, the Environment Section of Sligo County Council undertook a risk assessment and subsequently consulted with the Health Service Executive (HSE) regarding the potential implications for public health.

Having considered the outcome of the risk assessment and the advice received from the HSE, Sligo County Council in conjunction with the HSE has determined that a temporary Bathing Water Advisory Notice should be implemented with immediate effect.

In the interest of protecting public health and in accordance with the National Bathing Water Protocol, Sligo County Council has erected a Bathing Water Advisory Notice at Enniscrone Pier.

The Advisory Notice will remain in place until monitoring and assessment confirm that water quality meets the required standards as per The Bathing Water Regulations 2013. Water quality samples will be collected this morning (10 July 2026), and further updates will be issued in accordance with agreed national procedures once the analytical results become available.

Subject to satisfactory sampling results and the outcome of ongoing assessments, it is anticipated that the Advisory Notice may be lifted over the weekend.
