Cathaoirleach Pays Tribute to Former Councillor Paddy Conway

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Councillor Paul Taylor has paid tribute to former Councillor Paddy Conway, who passed away this week.

Paddy Conway was respected and admired well beyond his native Enniscrone, a community he served with distinction over the course of his long career in public life.  He was first elected to Sligo County Council in 1967, and would serve for 23 years before retiring in 1999.

Paddy also had the honour of serving as Cathaoirleach in 1991, a role he performed with great professionalism. He was hugely popular with fellow Councillors, and was motivated at all times to do his best for the people of Enniscrone and County Sligo.

On behalf of the Elected Members and staff of Sligo County Council, I extend sympathies to Paddy’s wife Breege, his family and many friends.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
