ReLove Fashion
ReLove Fashion is a sustainable fashion competition that inspires young people aged 12- 19 across Ireland to rethink clothing and creativity through the lens of the circular economy.
The competition invites participants to design and create original, wearable outfits using only second-hand clothing, unwanted textiles, and reclaimed materials. Through upcycling, repair, alteration, and creative reuse, young people develop practical circular economy skills while exploring the environmental impact of fast fashion.
Aligned with the secondary school curriculum, ReLove Fashion offers an engaging, hands-on learning experience that extends beyond the classroom. By combining research, design, and creativity, entrants gain a deeper understanding of sustainable fashion and responsible consumption.
Open to individuals, youth groups, and secondary schools, the competition provides an opportunity to showcase talent, build valuable skills, and discover how small changes in the way we use and care for clothing can make a positive impact on the environment.
By taking part in ReLove Fashion, participants can showcase their creativity, build valuable practical skills, and discover how small changes in the way we use and care for clothing can make a positive impact on the environment.

Second Tide: Created by Mia French, Cate Raftery and Nessa Keane, Mercy College, Second Tide is inspired by the beauty and fragility of marine life, with a particular focus on jellyfish. Using materials sourced from charity shops, a school swap event and loved‑again clothing, the team highlighted the hidden carbon costs associated with polyester production.
Stella ReLove: Designed by Sarah Smith, Malgorzata Wrotniak and Orla Tancred, Mercy College, Stella ReLove blends urban streetwear with Y2K and 2010s fashion influences. By sourcing garments from family members and a local charity shop, the team explored the environmental impacts of cotton production, including the draining of the Aral Sea.
The competition is funded through a partnership between the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment, the Regional Waste Management Planning Offices, Sligo County Council, and powered by the Rediscovery Centre, Ireland’s National Centre for the Circular Economy.
