COVID-19 - Motor Tax Continuity Plan

Due to Level 5 restrictions of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Motor Tax offices in Sligo and Tubbercurry will only remain open for an appointment based service only.

Online Service

You can tax your vehicle and do other transactions via the Online service at  All standard renewals/forms can be taxed online. While Motor Tax offices do not have access to the online database system, you can contact us on 071 911 1830 if you have any queries about your suitability to tax online.  There is also an option on the bottom of the homepage on the Online Motor Tax website –  - to contact the Online Motor Tax Section directly – customers can be directed to this page for Online queries. There are also options to retrieve pin numbers and amend email addresses etc. All forms for Motor Tax including forms for first time taxing of commercial vehicles are also available on the motor tax website.


Office-based Service

Staff will also continue to work when the office is closed to the public so if you want to renew your motor tax without having to make an appointment, you can post your form into the office at County Hall, Riverside.  Or if you wish, a post box has also been provided at County Hall, Riverside where you can place your renewal form.  Teach Laighne in Tubbercurry, also has forms available inside the main doors on the right and a locked postbox to deposit forms in.

Applications will be processed without delay and the disc sent out to you by return post.  Please note that all submitted forms must be completed in full, signed and have the correct fee included, otherwise, your application will be returned to you

If for any reason that you do need to attend the office rather than complete your transaction online or send it in the post, an appointment can be made during the following hours:
