Confirmation of Minutes of 23rd March 2026

Minutes of 23rd March 2026 meeting were confirmed.

 

Matters Arising

  • Hours on signage at disabled parking bays to be reviewed.
  • Drafting of Garda 2026 Sligo Leitrim Divisional Plan nearing completion.

  • LCSP Co-Ordinator report presented.
  • Update on PPN Plenary Committee Expo and Community Research Launch Event 18th May.
  • Support advocated for Sligo Leitrim CYPSC.

 

General Items

  • Presentation by Chair and Co-ordinator of Longford LCSP. 
  • Member introductions with safety issue working groups during meeting.

 

Members Interest Items (MII’s)

  • Effects of hate speech highlighted and importance of education on this issue.
  • Public survey underway which will inform formation of working groups.
  • Unlawful use of disabled parking bays to be closely monitored.

 

Local Community Safety Plan update

  • Guidelines of development of Plan now issued by LCSP National Office.
  • Sub-group formed to steer this development.
  • Annual campaign, similar to ‘Operation Enable’, to be referred to and considered by the Disabled Consultative Committee (DCC).

 

Correspondence

Members received information on:

  • Motion from Council Plenary meeting on pursuit trained Gardai referred to Garda Commissioner and Minister for response.
  • LCSP Plan to be informed by Garda Divisional Annual Service Plans per LCSP National Office.
  • Query from Older Persons Committee in Sligo seeking update on CCTV schemes.
  • CSO link to crime statistics sent to members. Pobal advised as another resource.

  • Annual budget confirmed by LCSP National Office.
  • Details of Housing First annual conference 4th June confirmed and to be shared with members.
  • Preliminary discussion of future public meeting and elected representatives meeting in 2026.
