Minutes of August Meeting of the Community Safety Plan Subgroup held at 2.15 pm on Thursday 13th August, 2026 Online via Teams

1.  Welcome

Ms Kira Smith, Chairperson, welcomed everyone to the meeting and noted apologies.

 

2.  Declarations of Interest

No Declaration of Interest received.

 

3.  Confirmation of Minutes of 7th July 2026

4.  Matters arising

On a query from Ms. Kira Smith on public consultation at festivals/events, Ms. Mairead Clerkin advised that Sligo LCSP had a stand at the County Sligo Agricultural Show in Riverstown 18th July 2026, that attendance at Tubbercurry Fair Day was not possible due to staff annual leave and in the main other festivals/events are music related and would not be suitable.

 

5.  Draft Terms of Reference

Draft Terms of Reference approved in last Sub-group meeting of 7th July 2026 subject to two amendments in section 4 circulated before meeting now noted and approved subject to adoption by LCSP committee.

6.  Update on public consultation process for Community Safety Plan

Circulated in advance of this meeting and summarized by Ms. Mairead Clerkin for the meeting.  Approximately 221 surveys now completed both online and on paper.  Ms. Marie Casserly thanked all agencies for sharing our public consultation which has already resulted in a high survey return.  Brief WhatsApp message for sharing on social media to be shared via email.  This will be drafted by Co-Ordinator and circulated to members.

It was noted that an email was issued to LCSP members on 4 August 2026 seeking support to further promote the public consultation survey through their organisations, sectors, networks and communities, including through social media and other communication channels.

 

7.  Correspondence

  • NOCS draft National Strategy circulated in advance of this meeting and Ms. Mairead Clerkin shared and discussed the 3 questions in the feedback.  Deadline 11th September.
  • Also NOCS update on €35k which was available until year end now having to be spent by mid-November.  Potential knock-on problems for completion of Community Safety Plan outlined.
  • Ms. Mairead Clerkin also shared results of analysis of online survey from SurveyMonkey which does not include the paper surveys.

 

8.  Any Other Business

  • For return of ATU students second week of September, Cllr. Edel McSharry to provide link to ATU social media and enquire re possibility of stand.  Student Union and St. Angela's College also a consideration.
