Green Business Hub Initiative in Sligo Town

Sligo County Council was pleased to partner with MyWaste.ie to deliver the Green Business Hub Initiative across Sligo Town and surrounding areas in 2025.

The Green Business Hub was designed to provide free support to local businesses, helping staff and customers to better manage waste and adopt more sustainable practices. The initiative focused on:

  • Reducing and preventing waste, including food waste
  • Encouraging correct waste segregation (general waste, recycling and food waste)
  • Promoting the use of MyWaste.ie signage and practical resources

 

What Businesses Received

Participating businesses benefited from a range of supports, including:

  • Free resources and expert guidance
    MyWaste.ie provided complimentary bin signage to promote correct waste separation. Sligo County Council also offered on-site visits, along with tailored advice and practical recommendations.
  • Cost savings opportunities
    By reducing and recycling waste, businesses can lower waste disposal costs and operate more efficiently.
  • Recognition and visibility
    All participants received a Green Business Hub window sticker and charter to showcase their commitment to waste reduction.
  • Contribution to climate action
    The initiative supports the transition to a circular economy, helping participating businesses reduce their environmental impact and carbon footprint.
