Road and Traffic Report W/C 21st November 2011


Student March In Sligo Thursday Afternoon

  • The Students Union of IT Sligo is organising  a protest march in Sligo on the afternoon of Thursday next 24th November as part of a nationwide series of protests on that date. The march will leave IT Sligo at 1.00pm and will follow a route  along Molloway Hill, The Mall, Bridge Street, Castle Street, Grattan Street, O’Connell St, Rockwood Parade, and will convene at JFK Parade for a series of speeches. The march is expected to conclude around 3.30pm. There is likely to  be considerable traffic  disruption in Sligo town for the duration of the march and motorists are advised to plan their route carefully on Thursday afternoon.

Sligo Borough

  • Enhancement works and traffic alterations are ongoing at Market Cross.  Works expected to last 3 weeks, with traffic management, including diversions, being put in place as required.

  • Footpath works ongoing on Abbey Street and Teeling Street. Minor delays can be expected. Traffic management will be in operation.

  • A licence has been granted for Road Opening at Thomas Street/Rockwood Parade. Works will last 3 days and traffic management will be in operation.

Sligo Strandhill

  • Footpath works will commence on the Airport Road – R277.  Traffic management will be in operation and works expected to last 4 weeks.

Sligo Drumcliffe

  • Road Resurfacing Works will commence on the N15 National Primary Road between Urlar and Cullagh Beg Tds. Traffic control will be in operation and major delays can be expected in the vicinity of the site. Works are expected to last 6 weeks.

  • Survey Works will commence on the N15 National Primary Road at Cliffony. Traffic control will be in operation and major delays can be expected in the vicinity of the site. Works are expected to last 1 week.

  • Roadworks continuing on Local Road 347 at Lissadell, Ballinphull.  Works are expected to last 2 days. Traffic management will be in operation. Delays may be expected.  Motorists to exercise caution.

  • Roadworks will commence on Local Road 228 at Ballintrillick on Monday 21st November. Works are expected to last 2 days. Traffic management will be in operation. Motorists to exercise caution.

 

Enniscrone Area

  • Water pipe installation works to continue on local road L2605 known as Quay road, Castleconnor (Enniscrone to Ballina Road).  The particular section of installation will be from Killanley Bridge to the Mayo Border.  This project is part of the upgrade and takeover works for the Castleconnor group water scheme. Works will take 6 weeks to complete. Traffic lights will be in operation. Traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum.

  • Verge improvements works will be carried out on the R297 Killenduff/ Ardevoher, Traffic management will be in place. Minor delays expected.

  • Verge improvements works will be carried out on the N59 at Corballa, Traffic management will be in place. Minor delays expected.

  • Pothole repairs will be carried out throughout the Enniscrone area.  Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

  • Drainage works will take place in Coolaney at Lipsett’s Corner. Traffic management will be in place with minor delays expected.


Tubbercurry Area

  • Traffic calming works will continue on the N17 in Curry village. Traffic control will be in operation with major delays expected in the vicinity of the site. Works are expected to last 1 week.

  • South Sligo water mains replacement works are continuing. The L-8107-0 Road between Monasteraden village and the R294 Tubbercurry to Boyle road will be closed to traffic between the hours of 7 am and 7pm daily, to facilitate the replacement of the water mains in the area. Diversions will be adequately signed on all approach roads for the duration of the works, Emergency and local access will be accommodated for the duration of the works.

  • Survey Works will continue on the N17 National Primary Road between Curry and Bellahy. Traffic control will be in operation and major delays can be expected in the vicinity of the site. Works are expected to last 1 week.

  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.


Ballymote Area

  • Accommodation & verge filling works will continue on the N4 National Primary Road between Castlebaldwin and Ardloy Td. Traffic control will be in operation and major delays can be expected in the vicinity of the site. Works are expected to last 3 weeks.

  • Verge trimming works will commence on the R284 from Ballygawley to Ballyfarnon.  Traffic control will be in operation with minor delays expected in the vicinity of the site. Works are expected to last 2 weeks.

  • Fencing and accommodation works will continue on the R287 at Drumiskabole and are expected to last 2 weeks.

  • The construction of a Mini Roundabout will continue at the R293/R295 junction in Ballymote. Traffic control and temporary traffic diversions will be in place. Works are expected to last 1 week.

  • Pothole repairs will be carried out throughout the Ballymote area.  Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

  • Drainage works will continue on Local Rd. L-5501 from Cloonamahon to Branchfield. Traffic control will be in place and works are expected to last 2 weeks.

  • The cleansing of surface water Gullies will continue in the Ballymote Area. Traffic Control will be in place and works are expected to last 1 week.
