About Fire Brigade Charges

When the fire brigade receives an emergency call-out to an accident / incident, a cost is incurred on the owner of the property whom benefited or would have benefited from the service provided by the fire brigade at that accident / incident. Sligo County Councils Fire Service will then issue an invoice to the beneficiary for an amount determined by the type of incident attended. Below is a breakdown of the different type of incidents and how the charges are calculated.

Incidents in non domestic premises A call out charge of €125 per completed quarter hour to apply per fire brigade station in attendence, subject to a minimum charge of €500 per hour per fire station in attendence.
Road traffic Incident A call out charge of €100 per completed quarter hour to apply per fire brigade station in attendence, subject to a minimum charge of €400 per hour per fire station in attendence.
Special and Non Emergency Services  Full Cost.

Will I get charged for a domestic chimney fire or house fire?

No, Fire Brigade charges for fires in domestic premises are waived by Sligo County Council. However, where the fire brigade attend an incident at dwelling type accommodation which is being leased or rented, it shall be charged at the non-domestic rate.

Can I get a reduction in the Fire Brigade Charge?

The council have introduced a waiver scheme / reduced charge for beneficiaries of their service. Those eligible for a reduction in charges should complete  the Application Form Waiver / Reduction Of Fire Brigade Charges PDF Format - 74 kbs form  and forward the completed application form to Finance Section, Sligo County Council, Riverside, Sligo. The council will then respond by advising on the final cost taken into account if the beneficiary is entitled to a reduction or waiver in part or full.
