About Community and Enterprise

The Office of Community, Enterprise and the Arts aims to further enhance the Council’s role in working with local community groups and voluntary organisations in the economic and social regeneration and development of their areas. Arts and Culture coordination and integration of services ‘joined up’ service delivery.

Work programmes like Urban and Village Renewal, CLAR Village Enhancement, RAPID, County Development Board, the Community and Voluntary Grant Scheme, the Arts Grant Scheme and the Pride of Place Awards allow this department to work with communities in improving their areas physically, socially or culturally.

The office is also responsible for securing significant external funding sources to undertake new activities including: the establishment of a Volunteer Bureau for Sligo, the development of a play policy and play facilities in the county and a Rural Economic Development Strategy for Tubbercurryand Enniscrone. The office of Community and Enterprise continually strives to improve cross border relationships with key projects like the Seaside Towns Initiative, Linear Park project, Omagh Sligo Partnership and the Peace III Partnership.
