Area Focus Enniscrone-Dromore WestThe Councillors representing the Dromore Area are:
WaterpointThe imminent opening of the latest phase of the Waterpoint facility represents a major boost for the tourist market in Enniscrone. Visitors to Waterpoint will now be able to enjoy a state of the art spa Sunset Spa and treatment rooms offering a range of therapies and products for men and women. For further details contact Sunset Spa at 096-36088. The delivery of the new facilities will enable Enniscrone to actively target a different market niche.
The impressive range of new facilities at the Waterpoint complex also includes all weather playing pitches and a new playground. The installation of solar heating panels to service the swimming pool has also been well received, as this has reduced carbon emissions and is an efficient and environmentally friendly system. Ardnaglass River Works at Ardnaglass/DunmoranFor a number of years Sligo County Council applied to the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources for funding to repair / reconstruct the Ardnaglass River outfall structure at Dunmoran Strand. In late August 2006 notification of finance arrived and a programme was immediately put in place to carry out the project. This provided information for the design of the replacement structure which was carried out by RPS Consultants. Subsequently tender documents were prepared, Part 8 planning permission was obtained and a contract was let following an open tender process to Ascon Ltd in November 2006. The works comprised:
The project was completed by May 2007 and was managed by the Marine and Structure Section in the Infrastructure Directorate. Project Engineer Gary Salter and Resident Engineer Dessie Sloyan. There has been a very positive response to the project from many of the beach users and walkers and the replacement of the footbridge which older residents would remember is proving to be particularly popular.
Major Housing Scheme for Dromore WestSligo County Council has advertised its intention to develop a major housing scheme in the Dromore West Area. The 77 house scheme will be constructed in the Knockacullen Townland, and the plans for the development can be inspected at the Council’s Offices at County Hall up to 1st August 2007.
Road Re-alignment at EnniscroneA major re-alignment programme of realignment works on the outskirts of Enniscrone at Muckduff is almost completed and will be open to traffic in July. Funding of €865,000 has been approved by the National Roads Authority for a programme of overlay works on the N59 at Leekfield Skreen, and this project will shortly go to tender.
