Updated legislation on Parking Offences came into force on 3rd April 2006. Some key points to note are:
In respect of an offence under Section 73 of the Finance Act 1976 (requiring a licence to be fixed to, and exhibited on a vehicle), this fine remains at E60.00. All previous E19.00 and E25.00 parking offences have increased to E40.00, with the exception of parking a vehicle illegally in a disabled person’s parking bay, which has increased to E80.00.
The Act provides that no payment of a fixed charge can be accepted after the expiration of the 56-day period and court proceedings are initiated against those who opted not to make a payment.
If another person is driving your vehicle you must notify Sligo Borough Council within 28 days of the notice.
If you require any further detailed information on the above, please contact the Parking Fines Section, Sligo Borough Council at 071-9114508.
