Area Focus - Enniscrone-Dromore WestThe Councillors representing the Dromore Area are:
New Wastewater Treatment Plant for EnniscroneSligo County Council has signed a contract with Electrical and Pump Services Ltd. to design, construct and operate and maintain (DBO) a new Wastewater Treatment Plant at Enniscrone. The plant has an ultimate design capacity of 5000 population equivalent, to fully comply with National and EU legislation. The cost of the design and build phase of the project will be €4m. The new plant will provide wastewater treatment to serve existing and future domestic and non-domestic wastewater producers in the environs of Enniscrone.
Enniscrone Local Area Plan provides detailed framework for future developmentA Local Area Plan (LAP) for Enniscrone was adopted by Sligo County Council on 1st March 2004. The purpose of the plan is to provide a greater level of detail as to the desired manner and pattern of growth for Enniscrone and its immediate environs. It is the primary objective of the plan to ensure the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
The plan focuses on improving the residential land supply, commercial fabric and tourism product of the town. It provides a detailed framework for the future sustainable development of Enniscrone having regard to social, economic and environmental requirements, as well as the associated infrastructural needs, of those living, working and visiting the area. Enniscrone LAP will remain in effect for a period of six years following its adoption. If necessary, the Council may at any time amend or revoke the local area plan.
Mini-Plan addresses future needs of rapidly-expanding Dromore WestSligo County Council adopted a Mini-Plan for Dromore West on 11th September 2006, as Variation No. 3 of the Sligo County Development Plan. The plan for Dromore West will be operational until 2011. In the western area of County Sligo, Dromore West is a rapidly-expanding village sustaining rural communities, with a record population increase of 44.5% between 2002 and 2006. In order to promote the sustainable development of the area, a number of proposals are contained in the mini-plan relating to the landscape, built heritage and streetscape, transport, village-centre mixed use zones, business, enterprise and industrial development.
Safety Measures in Rathlee and CorballaSligo County Council has erected amber flashing lights on the approaches to Rathlee National School. Proposals to introduce a special speed limit on the N59 on the approaches to Corballa village have been submitted to the National Roads Authority for approval.
Works at Pollnaduibhne PierSligo County Council has carried out a major programme of works at Pollnaduibhne Pier recently, including the provision of navigation lights, tool house, safety railings, crash barrier, extra moorings and life buoys. The Council has made a submission to the Department of Marine and Natural Resources for grant aid for the provision of a new hoist/crane facility to assist the fishermen in unloading onto the pier.
