Former Councillors Honoured

Two of Sligo County Council’s longest serving Councillors who retired from political life this year were honoured at a reception in Riverstown. Between them Michael ‘Boxer’ Conlon and Leo Conlon have given over fifty years service to Sligo County Council, and both had served as Cathaoirleach. They were presented with a framed history of the ‘Conlon’ family name, and a photographic record of their time with the Council.

The Cathaoirleach Councillor Gormley also made a special presentation to former Councillor Joe Cawley, who had a remarkable thirty seven years with Sligo County Council, including eight terms as Cathaoirleach.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable function, with Boxer, Leo and Joe joined by family, friends, and many of their colleagues from the Council.
