Contracts were signed at Sligo County Council offices for waste water treatment works at Aclare and Cloonacool. Following a public procurement process, the contracts for the schemes were awarded to Treatment Systems Ltd of Kilkenny. The cost of the Cloonacool schemes is €656,100. The project consists of the provision of a new 500 pe (population equivalent) Wastewater Treatment Plant for the village of Cloonacool. It will include all civil, mechanical electrical, instrumentation and plant equipment necessary prior to discharge to the receiving waters. The proposed treatment plant will comply with National and EU standards for discharging final effluent to the Lough Talt river, which is a tributary of the River Moy.
Design of the facility will commence immediately, and it is expected that the plant will be in operation early in the new year. The completed Cloonacool scheme will service the new six house Local Authority scheme in the village, and will also facilitate future private developments in the area.
The Waste Water Treatment Works at Aclare will cost €648,575. The project consists of the provision of a new 750 population equivalent Waste Water Treatment works at the site of the existing Waste Water works near the village of Aclare.

Both schemes would be provided as Design/Build projects, which assigns the contractor responsibility for the design and construction of the scheme.
