Address by Cathaoirleach Councillor Gerry Murray
Members from the Judging Panel,
Friends from Curry and Moylough
Staff of the Community & Enterprise Directorate,
Elected Members,
I am delighted to join you this afternoon for the national pride of place competition. Firstly, I would like to commend all those involved in the Belt Torc Development Company and their work in promoting all aspects of life in the areas of Curry and Moylough. Your involvement in organising school, sporting and social activities has been essential in the enhancement of the social fabric of these areas. You have also succeeded in enriching the cultural and historical heritage of the area through the completion of this heritage and resource centre in 2006, a venue for an on-going display of items and photographs of historical interest and, which also serves as a venue for community activities.
I will conclude by thanking you for your continued efforts working for the community. Also, I know this is the last stop in Sligo for the judging panel so I would like to thank them for their consideration and hope they enjoyed their time in Sligo.
Thank you
