Auto Bodyshops and Environmental Protection

Sligo County Council Crest 2      EPA logo

Sligo County Council and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) urge you to use only certified car spraying operators (auto bodyshops) when having your car’s paintwork repaired.

  • Certified providers have made the commitment and investment to operate legally and are applying good environmental practice to prevent environmental pollution.
  • Uncertified bodyshops are operating illegally and should be avoided as they are not operating to the same standard as certified operators.

It is a legal requirement that those providing auto re-spraying services be environmentally compliant and hold a certificate from their local authority, so ask to see their certificate.

Remember if it’s not a registered bodyshop - don’t use it. Think about the environment.

For information on certified vehicle refinishers in your area please contact the Environment Section of Sligo County Council on 071 911 1907 or see www.sligococo.ie.  For further information see www.decopaints.ie

You may report concerns regarding uncertified bodyshops to the National Environmental Complaints line 1850 365 121 (anytime).
