Sligo County Council and Mayo County Council intend to make an amendment entitled “Amendment No. 1” to the Charlestown-Bellaghy Local Area Plan 2010 –2016. The proposed amendment is intended to bring the Local Area Plan in line with the requirements of the Core Strategies of Mayo County Development Plan 2008-2014 and Sligo County Development Plan 2011–2017.
Following screening and consultation with prescribed environmental authorities, the Planning Authority has determined that the proposed amendment to the Charlestown-Bellaghy Local Area Plan is not likely to have significant effects on the environment. Therefore, Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is not required.
Copies of the SEA Screening Report and the SEA decision are available for inspection at the locations listed below.
Public consultation is an essential part of the local area plan process. It is important therefore, that the amendment to the Local Area Plan is examined and considered by anyone living, working or interested in the Charlestown-Bellaghy area.
A copy of the Proposed Amendment to the Local Area Plan will be available for inspection from Friday, 27th April to Monday, 11 June 2012 at the following locations/times:

The Proposed Amendment, the Local Area Plan and associated documents can be viewed and downloaded from the Council’s website at www.sligococo.ie/bellaghy
Anyone wishing to make submissions or observations in respect of the proposed amendment to the Local Area Plan may do so during the inspection period. Written submissions or observations made to the Planning Authority within the stated period shall be taken into consideration prior to the adoption of the Plan. Submissions should include maps, where relevant.
