Temporary Closing of Roads - Gortlowan

SECTION 75 OF THE ROADS ACT, 1993

Notice is hereby given of the intention of Sligo County Council to extend the period of closure to public traffic on Regional Road R287-83 from the intersection of the R287 and the R290 at Gortlownan to facilitate the construction of the Gortlownan Road Group Water Supply Scheme (Ballintogher No.2).

The period of proposed extended closure is from 27th February, 2010 up to and including 23rd April, 2010 from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm each day.  The section of the R287 road that is being closed is located from the intersection of the R287 and the R290 at Gortlownan to a point 3800m West, to the intersection of the R287 and the L-3605.  Local Access will be provided to residents/landowners but not to ‘through traffic’.

The alternative route to Ballintogher will be via Local Road L-3605-43.

A special Speed Limit of 50kph is proposed from the Castleore Junction to the Leitrim County Boundary.

Any persons aggrieved by the proposed extended closure may lodge a written objection setting out the grounds therefor with the Director of Services, Infrastructural Services Section, Sligo County Council, Governor’s House, St. Anne’s Place, Sligo not later than 4.00 pm on Monday, 15th February, 2010.
