There is a legal obligation for all Local Authorities to hold meetings. The Local Government Act 2001 stipulated the updated requirements surrounding the holding and composition of meetings. The meetings are as a rule held in the County Chamber in the County Hall, Riverside , Sligo.
The Cathaoirleach and Leas Cathaoirleach are elected by the members at the Council Annual General Meeting normally held in July
Where the everyday business of the Council is conducted and follows the Agenda prepared. Held normally every Monday of each month
Where members conduct business relating to amendments ( e.g., to the Development Plan)
Where members conduct business relating to the estimates of income and expenditure of the Council for the coming year Held during a period stipulated by the Department. Sligo County Council adopted its annual estimate at its budget meeting held on 15th December, 2008.
