    “That in view of the increasing levels of traffic on Hughes Bridge and Cartron Cross, that the NRA be requested to review the traffic lights sequence so as to maximise the flow of traffic at theses junctions”.


MOTIONS

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Healy McGowan

    To ask the Minster for Health to give a full explanation why St Angela’s College in Sligo has had such dramatic cuts in recruitment and training of nurses.  Nationally student nurses places have been cut by 16.5%.  However, St Angela’s College has been cut back by 31%.
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor P. McGrath

    To call on Sligo County Council to improve the junction on the N17, turnoff for the R294 to Ballymote and to incorporate a separate lane for traffic turning right coming from the Tubbercurry direction.
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillors S. Kilgannon and A. Higgins

    We call on Sligo County Council to restate its objective as stated in the County Development Plan to promote and support improved access to and expansion of Sligo Airport so as to secure a better level of service and promote Sligo’s accessibility to tourists and businesses both nationally and internationally.
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillors S. Kilgannon and A. Higgins

    Sligo County Council welcomes the decision of the CEO of the National Breast Cancer Screening Service, Mr Tony O’Brien to start screening in Sligo in March of this year.

    Welcome Breast Check to the North West of Ireland and that Tubbercurry is its First Roll Out

    Request the Minister for the Environment to allow Sligo County Council to sign the contract now for the Grange/Strandhill/Tubbercurry new Sewage Schemes – works worth ten million euros

    To ask what progress has been made with regard to the upgrading of the Strandhill Waste Water Sewerage treatment scheme and to ask if the Department has sanctioned the funding for the scheme and when can it be expected that work on the project will commence.”
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree

    Taking into consideration the fact that the Council imposes a planning condition on all housing developments that work shall not commence until adequate security (bonds) for the satisfactory completion of the development has been submitted to the Council and that security is only released when the development has been completed to the satisfaction of the Council, can Council members be advised as to the mechanism used by the Council to draw down bonds where a developer leaves a housing development unfinished."
  10. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley

    That the Council be provided with a report indicating when work is expected to commence on the up-grade of the sewerage treatment plant in Tubbercurry
  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Fleming

    To seek clarification on the issue of rights of way afforded to landowners who have contributed to the improvements of roads under local improvement schemes:

    1. their legal rights and obligations
    2. the legal right of any one such person to prevent others from using those roads
    3. can the Local Authority remove any obstacles placed on those roads, i.e. gates, boulders, etc.
  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Fleming

    To request the Minister for Transport and the N.R.A. to provide the funding necessary to guarantee that two bridges at Carrowilkin on the N17 are structurally safe to carry the large volume of traffic which travels this road on a daily basis

    To ask the Director of Services when will work commence to extend Sewerage pipeline across the river Moy in Aclare Village

    To request that red and white bollards be erected at Annagh bridge, Tourlestrane on the R294 and at Rhue bridge,Tubbercurry on the N17 in the interest of road safety

    That Sligo County Council express our deep abhorrence at the attacks by Israel on the Palestinian people in Gaza.

    Further, this Council calls on the Irish government to demand from the Israeli authorities the immediate end of these vicious attacks and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Palestinian lands as previously agreed in numerous UN resolutions.
    In an effort to exert pressure on the Israeli authorities, this Council asks that our government initiate moves at EU level seeking a suspension of the European-Mediterranean Association Agreement which underpins preferential trade with Israel

    "To ask the County Manager what proposals the Council has to improve safety standards at the junction at the entrance to Beachview housing estate, Strandhill, and further to ask what proposals the Council has to resurface the road in the estate."
