 - Tidy Towns Competition
- Care & Conservation of Sligo's Historic Graveyards

Tidy Towns Seminar: 9.30am to 12.30pm

This seminar is organised by Sligo County Council in association with the Tidy Towns Unit of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

The Tidy Town seminar aims to provide practical advice to those directly or indirectly involved in the
enhancement of towns and villages e.g. Tidy Towns groups, local community groups or local development organisations. The key topics to be covered include:

  • Guidelines for entering the National competition
  • Developing a three to five year plan
  • Practical advice on undertaking improvements in the local area
  • Linking local plans to the Local Authority and other agencies

Sligo County Council will also be launching its own local Tidy Towns Competition at this seminar.

Care & Conservation of Sligo’s Historic Graveyards Seminar: 1.30pm to 4.00pm

This seminar is organised by Sligo County Council’s Heritage Office & the National Monuments Section of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

This seminar aims to provide useful help and advice to those caring for, or interested in, conserving historic graveyards. Topics to be covered include:

  • The wealth of heritage in Sligo’s historic graveyards
  • Practical advice on caring for historic graveyards
  • Funding available to manage graveyards
  • Sources of information on graveyards

Who should attend the Historic Graveyard Seminar?

The seminar is aimed at community groups, burial ground committees, heritage groups, historical societies, ecclesiastical groups, ‘Tidy Towns’ committees and anyone with an interest in local heritage and history.
