On Site Treatment Systems
In the interests of protecting our water quality, Sligo County Council have recognised the importance of designing on-site treatment systems which take account of the characteristics of the site and the vulnerability of groundwater resources. The key to protecting water quality is to ensure that new development is guided towards sites where acceptable wastewater treatment and disposal facilities can be provided. The identification of suitable sites is largely dependent upon the quality of site suitability assessments being undertaken by consultants in preparing applications for planning permission.
Following a request for expressions of interest in undertaking this work, the above is a list of assessors offering the necessary qualifications and experience to carry out on-site suitability tests in a competent manner.
With a view to improving the quality of information submitted, it is recommended that as and from 1/12/2005 applications for planning permission for developments which include an on-site treatment system should have the site suitability assessment prepared by a member of the approved panel or other competent assessor as determined by Sligo County Council.
The panel of site assessors shall be open to regular review and assessors may be included or removed from the panel at the discretion of Sligo County Council.
