Draft Local Area Plan under preparation

Under the County Development Plan’s Settlement Strategy/Hierarchy, Tobercurry is a designated Key Support Town, together with Ballymote and Enniscrone.

Tobercurry is the only Key Support Towns for which a local area plan has not yet been adopted.

In November and December 2005, the County Council’s Development Planning Unit (DPU) consulted with the residents of Tobercurry with a view to starting the preparation of a draft LAP. A public meeting was held in Teach Laighne on 24 November 2005 and during the following month nineteen submissions were received from the public.

During Summer 2006, the DPU prepared a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Screening Report, which was submitted to prescribed environmental authorities for comments and advice.

Currently, the Development Planning Unit is working on the preparation of the Draft Tobercurry LAP.
