The Dangerous Substances regulations, 2001, prescribe water quality standards in relation to 14 dangerous substances in rivers, lakes and tidal waters. Sligo County Council prepared a Dangerous Substances Measures Report in 2002 in line with these regulations. This report outlines the existing water quality; water targets to be achieved, potential pressures and also details a programme of measures to achieve the water quality standards required under the Regulations.
