Asbestos

There is much uncertainty surrounding the handling and disposal of asbestos.  The most common form of asbestos queries usually refers to the flat or corrugated cement bound sheets.  However the attached link identifies typical asbestos products and where they are likely to be found. www.enfo.ie/leaflets/bs29 .htm

When considering the movement, handling and disposal of such material it is vital to consult the following technical advice: www.epa/ieTechnicalGuidanceandAdvice/GuideanceDocuments/Asbestos

Hazardous Waste Transportation

Businesses producing hazardous waste

If your company or business is producing hazardous waste, you are responsible for making sure that it is disposed of in a proper environmental manner.  This requires that any movement of hazardous waste must always be accompanied by a Consignment Note (C1 Form).  Failure to do so could result in a prosecution.  These forms are available from your Local Authority.

Transfrontier Shipment Documentation is required for the movement of waste into or out of the country.  Consult with the National TFS office in Dublin on such movements, telephone 01-4113440.
