National Tree Week usually takes place in March each year and is organised by The Tree Council of Ireland www.treecouncil.ie and supported nationally by Coillte and Local Authorities all over the country. 

The aim is to plant as many native Irish species as possible and to foster an appreciation for the value of native trees. Thousands of saplings are distributed acrossIrelandduring National Tree Week and planted up by children, community and voluntary groups.   Groups must undertake to plant these saplings in a suitable public location, in their own locality during National Tree Week.
