Under its ‘Open Local Government’ initiative, local school children invited to County Hall to attend a monthly meeting of the Council. The children also attend a presentation on the role and services of the Council, and are given an information pack of brochures, newsletters and reports.
Members of local Advocacy Groups have undertaken courses and have been presented with certificates on completion of Sligo County Council’s ‘Open Local Government’ programme in County Hall. The programme encourages members of the group discuss a range of topical issues, from water conservation to litter awareness to access issues.
The course is delivered monthly by the Communications Office, Sligo Local Authorities in conjunction with the ‘North West Parents and Friends’ and the ‘Our Voice Advocacy Group.’
