Annual Regional Civil Defence exercise

Sligo Civil Defence have been tasked with job of hosting the Civil Defence Regional Exercise this year.  Date has been chosen and it will be held on 15th September at Sligo Airport. There will be 5 visiting teams (Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Westmeath and Roscommon). Preparations are already in place, putting the senarios together for each site. This exercise allows volunteers the opportunity to test their skills in an almost realistic situation. It is a great learning tool and is looked forward to by the volunteers each year. We will keep you posted as the time gets closer.

Sligo Civil Defence have had 40 new members register this year to become volunteers and are presently in training each week learning new skills. Our in-house training term is coming close to an end and we are gearing up for a busy summer of events, where volunteers gladly give of their time and training skills back to the community. New members are always welcome and our training program will recommence in October. Contact the Civil Defence office for further information.
