Sligo County Council Arts Service Calls for Arts Grants and Bursaries Applications

Deadline for applications is 1pm on Friday 15 April, 2011.

Sligo County Council Arts Service is pleased to announce its arts grants and bursaries for individual artists, community and voluntary arts groups involved in enhancing access to the arts throughout County Sligo. These grants and bursaries by Sligo County Council providing funding opportunities for communities and professional artists towards a diverse range of artistic activities covering all artforms including literature, visual arts, music, traditional music and dance, theatre and drama, photography, film and electronic media, festivals and individual arts practice.

A total of €20,000 will be available for Arts Grants to support community-based arts festivals, events and professional development training for amateur and voluntary arts groups taking place between July 2011 and July 2012.  An Artist Bursary fund of €7,000 will be available for to support professional artists in the development of their arts practice.  In allocating grants, Sligo County Council will consider to what extent the grant request accords with the County Council’s policies and priorities on the promotion of the arts.

Applicants are advised to read the guidelines and ensure that the application is submitted by the deadline. All applications are assessed by an independent panel, administered by Sligo Arts Service and approved by the Members of Sligo County Council.  Deadline for applications is 1pm on Friday 15 April, 2011.

The members of Sligo County Council also provide funding and other supports to Sligo’s key organisations and annual events namely The Model, Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, The Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo Live, Sligo International Choral Festival, County Sligo Fleadh, Feis Shligigh, Sligo Feis Ceoil, Ballintogher Traditional Festival, South Sligo Summer School, Coleman Traditional Festival, James Morrison Weekend, Paddy Killoran Festival.
