Strandhill Local Area Plan 2003-2009
Strandhill Local Area Plan (LAP) was adopted by Sligo County Council on 7th July 2003 and was subsequently amended on 19th April 2004. Strandhill was the first settlement in County Sligo for which a LAP was prepared. The general aim of the plan is to promote the sustainable development of Strandhill village as a self-supporting community enjoying a good quality of life in terms of housing, jobs, amenities, transport and natural environment. This plan is the result of extensive consultations with local residents, elected Members, local community groups, sporting interests, commercial and business interests, developers, landowners, county council officials and prescribed bodies.

Strandhill Sewerage Scheme
The Strandhill Sewage Scheme is bundled together with Tubbercurry and Grange Schemes. It is envisaged that the contract for the Strandhill Sewerage Scheme scheme will go to tender by the end of 2007, with the intention that that the project will be operational by late 2008.

Regional and Local Roadworks
Sligo County Council will shortly be carrying out surfacing works on a section of the ‘Top Road’ Strandhill, and the Regional Road R292 will also be surface dressed at Kilmacowen in the summer.
A number of local roads in the Strandhill Electoral area have also been targeted for improvement works in the current year:

Works at Strandhill Promenade
Sligo County Council estimate that the cost of protecting the dune system at the south of promenade at Strandhill is in the region of €15,000. An application has been made to the Department of the Marine & Natural Resources to fund these works under the Coast Protection Programme.

Beach Wardens
A full time beach-warden service for Strandhill will be operated for the 2007 bathing season. The Beach Wardens will be responsible for enforcing the beach bye-laws which are effective from 5th April 2007.  Beach Wardens will be employed on a six day week from 11 am to 7 pm for June, July and August.
