On 16th March 2004 Minister Martin Cullen announced funding of over €11m towards regeneration works in cities, towns and villages throughout the country. Over €40m has been allocated since the current programme commenced in 2000.
Almost €5m has been allocated to the five main cities Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford, while €6.2m will be allocated to County Councils to fund urban and village improvement measures during 2004. Sligo is categorised under BMW Measure 2 Towns and Villages and will receive €216,000 in the current year.
