This programme adopts a partnership approach with a number of stake holders involved. The maximum grant is 30,000 and the funding mix is one third County Council, one third CLÁR, one sixth LEADER/Moy Valley Resources and one sixth by way of local contribution.
Schemes are currently underway in Lavagh and Dromore West and there are proposals for a number of others in CLÁR areas of the county.
The Government has approved a National Group Broadband Scheme to address broadband needs in under serviced areas. The objective is to empower smaller communities to take the initiative to arrange for provision of broadband services for themselves. An information evening on the scheme was held in early March 2005 and as a result a number of applications were made by community groups. Approval for funding was recently announced for schemes at Rosses Point, Strandhill, Ransboro and Ballisodare.
The scheme is being co-ordinated by Paddy Birch of the Border Regional Authority.
