Local Media get to see Inner Relief Road close up

On September 1st the local media were invited to an information tour of the work in progress on Sligo’s Inner Relief Road. The tour guide for the day was Resident Engineer Noel Haran.

The Sligo Champion and Weekender each sent a reporter and photographer while Niall Delaney of NWR News arrived with his microphone and recorder.

After receiving their mandatory ‘on-site’ training, the reporters and Noel set off in their sevenseater jeep to the first point of the tour, the flyover at Carraroe Roundabout. From there, the crew made stops at Caltragh and near Summerhill College. Noel ably filled the visitors in on the progress to date on the road, from the excavation works, archeologically digs and the recently commenced first phase of road construction. Noel was equally capable in fielding any questions that the reporters had, so much so he appeared on news bulletins on NWR throughout the next day.

The media tour was set up by the Communications Office and was well received. Another tour is scheduled closer to the opening of the Inner Relief Road.
