Traffic Report W/C 24th April 2017

Sligo Town

Sligo City Watermain Rehabilitation and Pearse Road Sewer Network Contract

  • Pipe laying works will continue on John Street.  These works are expected to last 2 weeks.  Traffic flow will be maintained but delays can be expected.
  • Pipe laying works will commence on Smith’s Row off John Street on Monday the 24th April.  Smith’s Row will be closed to traffic for 1 week to complete these works. 
  • A full traffic management plan will be in operation for the duration of all the works. Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the works.

N4 Dual Carriageway

  • Maintenance works will continue on the N4 Sligo - Collooney dual carriageway.  Works will consist of:
    • Grass cutting and strimming in the central median of the Dual Carriageway
    • Verge trimming on both the North bound and South bound carriageways
    • Completion of landscape works at the summerhill roundabout
  • It is anticipated that the works will last approximately 1 week, during which time extensive traffic management systems will be in operation.  The dual carriageway will be reduced to a single lane for much of this time.  Motorists are urged to proceed with caution through the works. 

R291 The Mardyke (Cartron Point towards Rosses Point)

  • Road improvements will be taking place on this road between Cartron Village and Scotsmans Walk on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th of April.  This work will necessitate the closure of this stretch of the R291 during normal working hours.  The diversion travelling towards Sligo will be via Scotsmans Walk and the N15, and the diversion in the direction of Rosses Point from Sligo will be northwards on the N15 and then west on Scotsmans Walk.  Traffic management for this work will include temporary traffic lights on the N15 at its junction with Scotsmans Walk.

Lower Abbey Street

  • Road improvements will be taking place on Lower Abbey Street on Tuesday 25th April, and Wednesday 26th April.  No vehicular traffic or parking will be permitted on this road while works are ongoing.

 

  • Hoarding has been erected at the corner of Lord Edward Street and Union Street. Provision has been made for pedestrian access and works are expected to last several weeks.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.
  • Hoarding to be erected on Wine Street in front of the Gaiety Cinema on Monday the 20th March, 2017 for four weeks. Provision for pedestrian access will be provided. Minimal traffic disruption expected.
  • Hoarding to be erected on Castle Street on Monday April 10th, 2017 for four weeks. Provision for pedestrian access will be provided. Minimal traffic disruption expected.
  • Ongoing Road Openings to take place at various locations over the coming weeks due to broadband upgrade.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

 

Enniscrone Area

  • Drainage works will be carried out on the N59 at Carnaree. Traffic lights will be in operation. Minor delays expected.
  • Road restoration will be carried out on the Ladies Brea/Carrowcullen/Leharrow.  A temporary road closure will be in place (local access will be provided) diversions via Lough Easkey road and the Hungary rock.
  • Footpath works will be carried out on the Cliff Road, Enniscrone. Traffic lights will be in operation, Minor delays expected.
  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

   

Ballymote Area

  • Surface Drainage works will continue on Local Road L-5902 at Clockmine/Dromore. Traffic control will be in place and works are expected to last 2 weeks.
  • Surface Drainage and verge strengthening works will commence on Local Road L-1201 at Lavally. Traffic control will be in place and works are expected to last 2 weeks.
  • Surface Drainage works will continue on Local Road L-55062 at Knockadalteen. Traffic control will be in place and works are expected to last 1 week.
  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

 

Tubbercurry Area

  • Road strengthening works will commence on the R296 at Quarryfield, Bunnanaddan on Monday 24th April 2017. Traffic control will be in operation with significant delays expected. Works are expected to last 1 day. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within working zone.
  • Road strengthening works will commence on the CR 445 at Ballyara, Tubbercurry on Tuesday 25th April 2017. Traffic control will be in operation with significant delays expected. Works are expected to last 2 days. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within working zone.
  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
